Five ways to help before December 8.

The race is District 5. The useful help is local: a yard where a sign is welcome, an hour on doors, a stack of mail, a contribution, or a text to a neighbor.

01

Yard Signs

A sign belongs in a yard where the resident has said yes. Leave the address, and the campaign will follow up about when one can go up.

Signs are for District 5 first. If the address is outside the district, say so in the note, and the campaign can decide whether a sign there still helps.

02

Door knocking

A shift is about two hours, with a partner if you want one, and a list of doors in District 5. You get a short card, and you do not have to know every city issue.

What you say can be this simple:

Hi, I’m a neighbor. Bo Hicks is running for City Council in District 5. Election day is December 8 at Alberta Baptist Church, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Can I leave you a card?

Pick the times you can walk. The campaign will write back with a street and a partner. If you only want to knock on your own block, say that.

03

Mailers

Mailers are the letters that go to houses in District 5. Help is an hour or two at a table: labels, stamps, and a short handwritten line if you want to add one.

If you would rather take a finished stack to your own street, say that instead. The campaign will tell you when a mailing is scheduled.

04

Donate

Contributions pay for yard signs, mailers, and printing. They go to the campaign committee once that account is open.

This page does not take card numbers. Leave your name, and the campaign will send the official giving link when it is ready. If you already know you want to give, say how you’d like to hear back.

A text to someone who lives in District 5 is worth more than a post to people who cannot vote in this race. Copy this and send it as it is, or put it in your own words.

Bo Hicks is running for Tuscaloosa City Council in District 5. He has lived in the district for 16 years. Election day is Tuesday, December 8, at Alberta Baptist Church, 2210 University Boulevard East. Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. A runoff, if needed, is January 5.
